FOTD/OOTD - Bittersweet Mocha

So the other day, I came up with this look - which I found super easy and quick to do; bonus! So I thought I'd share it with you

The eye is understated but in an elegant way - something I think I will be doing again in the future!

I wanted my cheekbones to be more pronounced so dug out my bronzer and highlight!

This was the outfit I chose - a great bandeau dress which is a great colour for the summer days and nights - and I think was a great match for the make up look I went for.

So in my last e.l.f. order I got another of their nail polishes and decided to give to put it on today! This one is called Moonlight and has a chrome finish to it.

In the end it took 4 coats to be even and if I'm perfectly honest that is 2 too many for how it eventually turned out. I don't think this is the best colour either for my pale skin tone, but alas - we live and learn!

In other nail news, a while back I won a competition from the nailphile and after the crap postal service lost my prize...

She is kindly sending me some other goodies to replace the package that got lost! Yay!

Also - something extra to clear up the staining on my nails. HAL.LE.LU.JAH!

I have really been loving my Fix+ mixed with vanilla pigment lately and just wanted to share it with you.

It's a great way to brighten up the face and give an all over dewy glow. I love it on the days I'm not wearing much make up or when I've just woken up - it instantly makes me look awake!

How to: Pressing Pigments

So after my last post showing the pigment's I pressed, a few of you asked to see how I do it - so this it!

First of all, you need to gather everything you'll need, which is:

Pigment
Empty pan
Rubbing alcohol
Scoop and hair grip (something to dispense your rubbing alcohol and something to stir it all with)
10p
Hairdryer
Material - up to you what you'd like to use, I go for a spare pillowcase as I prefer the pattern this gives
You also probably want to cover the surface you're working on as things can get messy.. and with me? They almost always do!

Once you've got everything ready - you then need to disinfect everything. You don't want any germs going into your lovely new shadow!

You then want to take the pigment you're going to be using and this is where I use the hair grip to transfer the pigment into the pan. You want to properly fill it, because when the rubbing alcohol is added the amount you have in the pan does shrink. But not to worry - you can always add more as you go along!

Now that you have your pigment ready in the pan, it's time to start adding the rubbing alcohol. I just use this white scoop, but if you have a medicinal pipet or something - that would be a lot easier! Add it little by little as you don't want it to be TOO runny. If you feel like there isn't enough pigment in the pan once you've added the rubbing alcohol - just add more pigment! Carry on this process until you have the right amount and consistency!

Now what you want to do is take your hair grip or whichever stirring tool you chose, and stir your mixture together. This is just to make sure everything is evenly mixed and there's no big clumps of pigment stuck together. It wants to look creamy more than anything! When you're happy you've stirred it enough - spread it evenly in the pan, ready for when you need to press.

Now you need to let it dry - you can either wait until the mixture has dried naturally, or if you're impatient like me, you'll take a hairdryer to it! You don't want it to be completely dry, nor do you want it too wet.. It really is like goldie locks when you're pressing pigments! So I just take my dryer and heat it up for about a minute or so, until you can see the mixture looking firmer.

Now you want to take your 10p (this is probably the best fit for us brits!) and put it in the material you're using and twist it up inside, tightly. You don't want any ruffles or creases - otherwise this will go into your pigment when you press! Then take a bit of the rubbing alcohol and put that on covered 10p - this will just help it not to stick to the pigment and allow for an overall better press.

All you need to do is place it into the pan and press! Don't worry if you see the material getting wet - this just means it's working and it's absorbing all the rubbing alcohol in the pigment. Carry on pressing, until you're happy with your outcome..

This is just how I press my pigments - but I hope this was helpful for some of you!

Since I did my last NOTD (2 months ish ago??) I've been trying in vain to grow out the staining I had gotten on my nails. I really have learned my lesson regarding a good base coat..

It's pretty much there now and to make me feel happier with my nails, I've been indulging in french manicures.

Done my moi!

I've got it down to a tee now and is an instant way for me to feel confident about my nails - plus it's super easy and costs me nothing. Bonus

I will be back with more colourful NOTD's once armed with a good base - I CANNOT go through this malarky again of trying to grow staining out!

Any suggestions on which one to get?

E.L.F Studio Purchases

So I got my order of e.l.f's studio line this morning and was so excited - I just wanted to show you what I got! Once I've had time to properly use them, I'll be able to give a better opinion on them. I only got a few bits, where are:

Contour Brush - this is exactly the right size I wanted it to be and it is lovely and soft. Am hoping there won't be any shedding!

Complexion Brush - once again, this is really soft and can't wait to see how it holds up under use and washing

And as a little extra, I added one of their regular nail polishes into my order - Moonlight. This is one of the new shades on the website and this colour is lovely! Can't wait to try it out - will show if off in a NOTD soon

Avon purchases

For some reason, I've never had an avon lady round where I live. Which is probably a good thing to be honest, as I have a funny feeling I would always be adding things to a list each month..

So when my friend said that her mum was an avon lady, I just knew I couldn't resist!

It's just so much fun flicking through the avon book and scribbling down what you fancy - it sort of feels like it's not real money? Oh well, you only realise it is when you get your stuff haha

I only picked a few things in the end (I definitely held back..) and this is what I got:

I thought this would be quite fun to have in my collection, especially on the days when I want barbie pink cheeks!

Do you know what? I don't even own a brown mascara - I even have blue, purple and glitter ones.. just not a brown??

These are 2 in 1 shadow sticks - you've got cream on one end and when you take the cap off, it's got a wand with pigment inside. We'll have to see how they fair during a long day

These are 4 cream shadows and these colours are what got me - perfect for a neutral eye! I think I'll just be using these as bases for other shadows I have

All in all I'm happy with what I chose and for £16 - you can't go wrong

I don't think I'll be getting anything from the avon book in the near future though, just because there's so much higher end make up that I've got my eye on, that I know I'll get more use out of.

Lesson learnt I think!

However, their body lotions and potions did catch my eye.. hmmm..

Better go look in the book again!

So I've been M.I.A for nearly 2 months now.. and I am so sorry - a lot of stuff has been going on in my personal life and it was hard to find the time and also the energy to do a blog post I'd actually be happy with. The good news is - I am back now and with a vengeance! Mwahaha

So getting back into the saddle, I wanted to show you some of the pigments I pressed a while ago now - they were my first attempts and to be honest, I'm rather happy with them. It isn't as hard as I thought it would be!

I bought 2 mineralize eyeshadows from a lady off youtube a couple of months ago and it turned into a bit of drama.. (The claws didn't fully come out, haha) They arrived completely smashed and the only reason it happened, was simply because she hadn't packed them properly to travel the distance from the US to the UK. She wouldn't give me a full refund and let's just say I was pretty miffed!

So to salvage the situation I decided to make something of these sad excuses of eyeshadows..

If life gives me lemons, I really do make lemonade!

I was worried about losing the veining in the eyeshadows, as they are what I love best about them - but I think they still capture the essence of what once was, haha. At least now they will be put to use; it turned out good in the end - hoorah! So the moral of this story is girls, don't throw away broken shadows - they really can be fixed!

The last pigment I want to show you is MAC's Vanilla pigment and this is what that looks like:

This is seriously my favourite highlight colour and I use it pretty much everyday. Not only do I now have it in pan form, I use it on my nails and also have a carry round version of fix+ with this in - divine!

Urban Decay Haul

I ended up buying 7.. Ha. To justify it to myself they are all lovely colours and I got a mix of matte and shimmer finishes to keep me busy.

NOTD #4

So as I explained in my In & Out post yesterday, I'm still suffering from stained nails - so I'm steering clear of the dark polishes for a wee while till it's cleared up and so I opted for this neutral colour by E.L.F

I also decided to chop off my nails last night.. so I'm feelng a little naked at the moment haha but I'd rather have strong healthy nails rather than having them in the state they were in - sniff.

Anyways!

I applied two coats of a base beforehand and then it took two coats for the E.L.F polish to be even and streak free. This is the shade Nude - it does what it says on the tin and for £1.50 I can't complain! I really want to try more colours from them as I think for what you pay, it's definitely worth it and the bottles are just so cute aha

A little bit too safe for me, so I may change this in a few days or do some konading on top? Hmm..

What nail base does everyone use? I need to protect my poor nails better from now on!

In & Out #3

- The weather! It's been lovely for the past 3 days and counting, I now have my fans at the ready because I detest being hot, so I can keep cool on days like these

- Stretching my ears up to a 0g, zebra print plugs on the way - woo!

- My minky doggy who will be getting bathed later - she won't stop rolling in the grass every time she goes out aha

Minzi's Package #1 and #2

Finally, I have gotten around to posting the lovely things that Minzi sent me. I've just been having so much fun trying everything out! I'll post the pictures and some swatches, so you can get a better idea of the products

She managed to get me some lovely bits from NYX, this is one of the trio's and it's number 28. Love all 3 colours, I will be able to create a lovely look using these!

This is Number 08 and this too has all the colours I need to make a great look - will be posting pics of this one soon.

She also got me 2 of the jumbo pencils - in Black Bean and Milk. I love them so much I've already bought more and have more on the way; they're just so creamy! And from the Loreal HIP range she got me a colour rich cream crayon - this green colour is so intense but you can't really see in the picture!

Also from Loreal HIP, she got me a Cream Shadow Pain in Secretive - this has been a great base when doing light neutral eyes! I've never seen anything like the pigment shadow stick before and this colour is SO me. I've been using this with my Barry M dazzle dust 88. The HIP liner? I don't see how I lived without this before! Just amazing.

From Wet N Wild, Minzi got me loads of cool things! The 2 liners are a great addition to my collection and both are colours I always wear. The H2O liner really is waterproof for the most part! The Confetti is so cute, you can never have too much glitter! She also got me a bronzer and the formulation of this is just so soft and easy to apply.

This is Wet N Wild's Glassy Gloss in 319A Beige Baby - a lovely beige colour with subtle shimmers

This is one of Wet N Wild's mega mixers and it's in Electric Lemonade - this stuff smells good enough to eat!

This is another of Wet N Wild's Glassy Gloss' in 310 Candy Glaze - a gorgeous barbie pink with neon glitters in!

The ULTA eyeshadow was a lovely surprise - because I'd been looking for a colour like this for a while. This has had so much use out of it already! Minzi said that the Luminous blush by Milani was a good dupe for NARS' Orgasm - so I'm very happy to have this instead. The colour is gorgeous and I've been wearing this one a lot too!

She also sent me 2 cute lip balm's.. these make me so happy! The tin's are adorablee, we don't have anything like this over here in the UK - booooo

As well as all of that, she managed to get me the Cover Girl lash blast mascara, NYX lipstick in Power and Sinful nail polish!

Just wow.. She really is a miracle worker with what she managed to do within our budget

Doing this swap with Minzi was just so much fun and she knows how much she's cheered me up by doing this with me!

I just want to say thanks again to you and I can't wait to do another one later on in the year with you!

3 Looks For Summer!

These are probably the three looks we'll all be needing the most this Summer and I just wanted you to see my sort of style and things that I would pair together!

Lily Lolo; Review

Since I've had my samples from Lily Lolo, I've been dying to let you know what I think and show you some results. But I made sure I waited to give them a proper trial run so that I could review them fairly.

After about a month of using them, I think that time has come!

So the first product of theirs to look into, is their cover up in Peep-O (49p for 1/4 teaspoon in ziploc bag). This is a matte yellow toned concealer, which is perfect for covering up those dark under eye circles. This is the before picture:

So as you can see, there is slight discolouration under my eyes, but not an awful lot - I still have sleepless nights due to children to come! Oh dear.. haha. Anyways, this is just to show how my skin looked before I applied anything.

AFTER

And this is after applying the concealer. You can see that the pinky undertones have been disguised, but I have to be honest and say that this is my least favourite product of theirs that I tried. I feel like it was just TOO powdery and overwhelming for such a delicate area. However I will try using this again, just with more moisturiser beforehand. This picture was taken before any other powders were put on top, so you can see the true outcome of this concealer. Once I applied my normal powder, you couldn't see the yellow anymore, which is good to hear!

Next up, is their other matte cover up concealer - Blush Away (49p for 1/4 teaspoon in ziploc bag). This is a green toned concealer and counteracts redness in the skin i.e blemishes, rosacea and sunburn:

One of the big problems I face with my skin, is that my cheeks are very red. It is as much embarassing as it is annoying! Other products that I've tried to counteract this problem have left me looking like I've either piled my make up on with a trowel, or my skin looks patchy and uneven with tell tale red patches showing through. This means I find it really hard to carry blush off properly, because the canvas underneath isn't all the same colour. This picture is also before anything else was applied - just fresh clean skin!

AFTER

I am so happy with this product, it's ridiculous! For once, my skin looks.. normal! I would be quite happy to wear this just on it's own with a powder, that's how impressed I am with the results. I will definitely be buying the full sized jar (£7) as I cannot be without this gem from now on! I am now confident enough to wear all my lovely blushes and feel that it looks even in colour and quite presentable - expect some FOTD featuring those! My new daily routine, is to apply my foundation as normal and then dust Blush Away over the areas that need it. After that, I apply my setting powder and I'm ready to go. No tell tale signs showing through and it has great lasting power for nights out too! No touch ups required; bonus.

Okay, so next I want to look at the 2 foundations and the 1 finishing powder I bought from Lily Lolo (all 99p for 0.75g in 5ml jar) :

As you can see from the pic, Candy Cane got ruled out immediately just for the fact it is no where near my skin tone! Porcelain was actually a near exact match - I hadn't even buffed this into the skin either! I think I may purchase the full sized jar and at £12 I think it really is worth it. The finishing powder was also lovely - it really did finish off my look and helped to ensure that I wasn't adding more coloured powder to my face when I needed to powder my nose. It kept me looking fresh and helped the staying power of my foundation.

Finally I want to look at 2 of their blushes that I tried (both 49p for 1/4 teaspoon in ziploc bag):

Doll Face is more of a peach on my fair skin and Rosebud is more of a true pink. Both blushes are easy to apply and blend; the colours are also easily buildable. I will definitely be ordering more of their blush samples to try, especially since they have various new summer shades recently launched! For 49p a sample, it's easy to find shades for your skin tone.

Overall, I'm really pleased with what Lily Lolo has to offer and with what they deliver. I only paid a £1 for postage and I received my items pretty quickly because they send it out first class via Royal Mail. Their products do not contain parabens, fragrances or fillers and they do not test on animals - which is always good to hear! They ship internationally, so that everyone has a chance to enjoy Lily Lolo and I definitely recommend their products to everyone, as you are sure to find something to suit you.

Today I wanted to use the polish that Minzi sent me as part of our make up swap (that WILL be posted this week, now that I have the second parcel) and she'd said it was a good dupe for China Glaze's Watermelon Rind - so seeing as I don't have that, I am a very happy woman indeed.

This is by Sinful Colors Professionals and the colour is San Francisco - 283.

I love how this polish applied, it went on so easily and required little effort to make it streak free. I am definitely wanting more from Sinful Colors if this one is anything to go by! This is it with 2 coats, just so that it was all opaque.

I'm loving the fine glitters in this polish and this colour makes a welcome change from all the spring colours we've been seeing! I may Konad this one though.. Hmm..

FOTD; Silver Lining

After such a lovely sunny day yesterday, it's back to the usual cloudy skies. Typical British summer; temperamental!

Therefore I did today's look to coincide with the weather and opted for some smoky silvers.

This is a quick and simple look to do, for days when the weather isn't on our side. Bring back the cloudless blue skies, please!

- Finding out just how good a calzone is. Who knew?

- Payday was on friday and being able to relax for a while about money

- I won another competition this week?! I now have the Eyeko shopper!

- Knocking Sam out on UFC in 5 seconds, even though he's been playing it all weekend. I think his male ego is dented, ha!

- Having Ben & Jade round and having so much fun. Pics may be added at a later date of jager shots!

- Hearing Sam's band play finally and loving it. So proud of him

- Not worrying about my freckles showing, I'd rather be natural than cakey anyday!

OUT:

- My poor nails are stained, I need a good base so they can clear up!

- Having problems with my wisdom tooth, whilst not having a dentist. Bugger

- Getting my 2 eyeshadows from a youtuber and being completely smashed, booo. I hate paypal disputes :(

NYX Lippies; swatches

Okay, so today I decided to show you the NYX round lipsticks that I have, and what they look like on. On their website the swatches they provide aren't necessarily true to life. So a lot of the time it's trial and error. For us Brits, that can be a real pain because we can't even go to look at them in store to get a better idea.

So, I figured why not just post pictures of the swatches - then you can make a more informed decision when choosing the right colours for you.

The have 143 different shades available in the round lipstick collection.. so that decision can be very hard!

For $3.50 you get 4g/0.14oz, which isn't bad at all! There are other websites though, that sell them for £1.25 a piece! www.mscuppycakes.com

I really like the packaging, it's not half as bad as some of the ones you get with cheaper brands. It's easy to keep clean and I love that underneath there is a clear section showing you the lipstick inside. Handy if you store your lipsticks upright!

The smell the lipstick has isn't so much of a problem for me, I've smelt worse haha. You really can't smell it once it's on your lips though - so it won't be off putting when wearing it, at all.

The texture of these is the thing I love most about them, they are just SO creamy. I've paid more for lipsticks that do the opposite and completely dry out my lips, which is never a good look! With these, I feel as though they're looking after my lips whilst they're on there. Sorted!

I apologise in advance, we had crap weather today (as usual) and it was sunny one minute, cloudy the next and then raining! Sighh. Anyways, onto the the pictures!

Faux Makeover

Oh my..

The other night I found a site and have been having so much fun on it, you wouldn't believe!

It's an online website that allows you to virtually make over yourself in a number of different ways, including: whitening your teeth, plumping your lips, thinning your eyebrows, getting coloured contacts and changing your hair in both colour and style - plus many more!

So onto the fun part! Pictures!

This is me as I am normally, just with blue eyes. This totally freaked me out though.. haha. I've never seen myself without green eyes! It's a cheap and easy way to see if I'd suit blue eyes and I think overall the contacts look pretty life-like?

Ha. Okay. So this time I thought I wanted to change my hair.. Blonde bob? Liiiiiiittle bit of a change there! It would have worked SO much better if I'd have used a picture with all my hair off my face, but lesson learned. I also whitened my teeth, plumped my lips a little, added blush, eyeshadow, false lashes and liner. Plus I wanted to see what I'd look like with brown eyes.. Tada!

Hmm.. This is definitely more of an overdone look aha. I plumped my lips to the maximum they would go and this is what they would look like - I don't think I need any lip fillers! Haha. I also thinned my eyebrows out to the maximum and this just made them look drawn on to be honest. I kept my own hair, but opted for the blue eyes again. I also added false lashes, liner and shadow. Plus I tried out a different coloured foundation. Overall I just look over done and fake.. Boooo

Now, the other good thing about this site is that when you apply something to your face, it actually lets you know what brand and colour it is etc. This way you can virtually try before you buy! It's quite an innovative way to see what does and doesn't suit you. Whether it be that particular hair cut you've been umming and aahing over, if your foundation shade really is your true match, would you suit more shaped brows or even if you are just curious to see what you'd look like if ________ !

Babyliss Conical Wand; Review

I bought the Babyliss Pro Curl 230 Tong a few weeks before my birthday as a little present to myself, so I've had it now for about 6 weeks. In that time I've gone from a complete novice and spending about 45 minutes trying to get my hair to look 'right', to being able to do my whole head and extensions in about 20. Not bad!

In these 6 weeks I've definitely mastered the art of: section-hold-wrap-wait-release! I feel like I couldn't live without this now.. Oh dear.

It manages to give me different looks because of the way the curls turn out. I can create a volumised curly look, a relaxed beach waved look and also a full on ringlet look. Not bad for something that costs £25!

Let's get the technical stuff out of the way first, so, it heats up to 200°C and has 4 different heat settings to choose from. Not only that but it is ready to use in 30 seconds. I've known some stylers to take aaaaaages and if i'm in a rush that is definitely one of my niggles. With this though, by the time I've sectioned my piece of hair and combed it through the conical is pretty much raring to go. Wahey!

I bought mine from Next online and it came with a 3 year guarantee, so I feel better knowing that i'm covered just in case anything goes wrong in that time. Which is always a good thing, when hair appliances can sometimes be so temperamental!

The general way to use a conical wand is to section your hair into different sizes (just to make it look more natural) and start from the bottom of your head then going upwards. Start with the furthest section away from you each time, this way you will be able to see what you're doing! If you do it the other way you'll find it harder to see past your wonderful curls!

So with each section of hair you want to wrap the hair (I usually do this away from myself) around the conical (leaving a couple of inches free at the scalp) and gently wrap the hair around the wand until all or most of the hair is around it. Be careful not to burn your fingers or ears though! It will hurt like a bugger! Once you've waited long enough (depending on your hair type and heat setting you've got it on) you just need to release the hair. And voila! Lovely curls!

Okay, so what I'll do now is i'll show you a picture of each of those 3 looks I can achieve and explain how I created them..

As you can see.. volumised! Wow. This isn't even me wearing extensions! I nearly couldn't fit all my hair in my laptop screen and that's saying something!

To achieve this, I repeated the general steps above but rather than leaving a chunk of hair free near my scalp I would curl all the way up - taking extra care not to burn my scalp! After each section was released I lightly sprayed it with hairspray. Once my whole head was done, near my crown I gently backcombed to give more height and volume. As you can see, it works!

Excuse the face.. haha, but this is the ringlet look I can create with the wand. This is what you can do with a bog standard curler, but it makes me happy that the wand can do it as well haha. I followed the general steps with this one also, but this time when wrapping my hair around the wand I kept all the hair tightly packed together as I went around. The tighter the wrapping = the tighter the curl. Very ringletty indeed!

And this is the relaxed beach wave look! This is probably my favourite and it's also the easiest - hoorah! As with the other two looks, I followed the general steps but this is really just the opposite of the ringlet look. This time you want to leave more space at the scalp AND at the ends of your hair. When the hair goes around, you want to leave wide spaces in between each wrap. Loose wrap around = loose curls.

So here's a little close up of the curls created - very soft and natural looking in my opinion. And most importantly easy to do once you get the hang of it! So don't give up and keep trying :)

FOTD; Mint Chocolate

This morning I had the urge to do a look using my new Glamour Doll Eye Shadows to see what I could come up with.

I only used 2 of the colours for this look, which were Chocoholic and Shamrock. I still need to incorporate Electric Lemonade into a look of mine.. so i'll keep you posted!

I applied UDPP first and I packed on the colour Shamrock all over my lid - this was really easy to apply and I didn't get any fall out; score! I then used Chocoholic as my crease colour and blended upwards to my brow bone. As soon I was done and I looked in the mirror I had a massive craving for mint choc chip ice cream.. I wonder why? Hmm...

I brought some of the Chocoholic underneath the outer corner of my lash line to intensify the eyes and starred out my tear duct with a white liner. I was debating whether or not to put false lashes on, but I really think it would have detracted away from the lovely green!

As you can see I tried to create quite a sharp edge with the shadow, just to give it a bit more oomph! I then placed white liner next to this edge to make it stand out even more and then I slightly blended it downwards. I used MAC's vanilla pigment as my highlight as I don't have another good highlight colours yet - I need to work on that, otherwise this is the only pigment you will ever see me use aha

So this was the finished look! All in all I'm happy with how this turned out. I don't usually use greens so much on my eyes, just because my eyes are green and I know people say you shouldn't necessarily use your eye colour in a shadow? However, I think this made the look what it is; Mint Chocolate! It just wouldn't be the same if my eyes were any other colour.

This isn't meant to be an everyday look, I was just enjoying experimenting with my new shadows :) This would be great for a night out and espeically for Paddy's day next year - 'Shamrock' is THE colour to use

I've just ordered myself the full sized jar of Chocoholic, so I don't have to worry about using up my sample now, phew. Plus with the samples I get with this order, I'll be able to show you all more swatches and looks I come up with those!

Today for my foundation I used my Lily Lilo foundation in Porcelain and on my cheeks I used Everyday Minerals blush in Soft Touch (full review on both brands coming up soon).

Today I decided to use one of the Nails Inc polishes that Gabriela sent - Coral. I am loving this as a summer colour! It's not exactly the best weather outside.. but who cares? If summer won't stick around, I might as well bring the summer to me!

These were completely opaque in two coats and this is a picture (without flash):

I decided to leave off the Konad today and just enjoy the polish as it is, seeing as it is so gorgeous! I may spruce it up in a few days though - we shall see haha.

Glamour Doll Eye Shadows Review

Last month I managed to come across a little gem in the brand that is 'Glamour Doll Eyes'. From browsing their website I was impressed with the cute little packaging, their good colour selection and by the fact they offer free samples with every order! Now.. who doesn't love little freebies?

Exactly!

At the time of purchasing from them, I didn't have a lot to spend but I figured seeing as this was a new brand to me, I didn't want to be spending a lot on something I wasn't sure about.

In the end I bought 1 sample in a jar and that only came to $3.50 - the jar comes with .6 gram of product and this is enough to get a good few uses out of it so you can properly decide whether or not you like it.

I ended up choosing Chocoholic, as I'd been looking for a good staple brown pigment for everyday looks:

I ordered on the 22nd April and I got dispatch confirmation on 5th May. I received my sample on the 8th May, so all in all shipping from the US to the UK that's pretty good. Plus I didn't have to pay for shipping! They kindly offer free shipping on sample orders; bonus.

DIY Depotting

So... I decided to try my hand at depotting some eyeshadows for the first time last week. The outcome? 3/4 eyeshadows survived.. *sniff*

It was a very sad day in my home, the illegal Urban Decay eyeshadow just didn't make it - oh noes. I've kept it though and am planning to re press it, so i'll post pics when i get around to doing it.

I depotted only Urban Decay eyeshadows this time, which were: Urb, Vapor, Illegal and Big Bang

I used an empty E.L.F. quad i'd bought and for £1.50 this was a great way for me to try out this depotting malarky, without having to shell out a bomb on a larger palette.

I just need to find some magnet stuff to stick underneath the pans and then I'll be able to take it out with me and show it off. I definitely feel more confident doing this now and I think only having 1 of the shadows die a crumbly death was quite a victory, woohoo

So, do I dare progress onto my beloved MAC stuff? Hmm..

Blog Buys!

I have been slightly naughty with my spending before payday.. however it is all justifiable! Or at least I like to think so? Hmm..

Anyways, I've managed to bag myself some nice (nearly) new pieces of make up and saved some money off the price I would have paid in store. I know some people might be a bit iffy about buying someone else's make up - people do worry about germs! But these items were either brand new, swatched once or only used a couple of times. It's a win win for me and the seller at the end of the day; they get rid of something they didn't want anymore and with the money they make, they can buy something they genuinely will use. And I get make up that is useable for me and at a discount no less! Woohoo!

The ladies I've dealt with have been lovely, been so kind and have given great communication - not like some people you can get off ebay!

From this first time experience, I know I will continue to look out for future blog sales and hopefully get more lovely make up to add to my collection :)

This is MAC's Breath of Plum - it's a sheer tone blush and oh my.. I love it! The pigmentation is great and it's the perfect pink for me. It's got the right under tones for my skin and doesn't make me look like a doll! The colour's buildable for the days that I feel more daring, but this is now my staple bush for everyday. So glad that I have this now, yay

She was also kind enough to throw in a Prestige Skin Loving Minerals blush for free. This is in 02 - natural; a great peachy gold with shimmer. It's meant to be similar to MAC's MSF Refined and seeing as I have Perfect Topping from sugarsweet, I feel more complete now that I have this as well, aha. This will be great for the coming summer months and I can't wait to use it.

When I opened my parcel, I was so shocked. There were 5 things in there, not just 2! On twitter she had mentioned she was going to send something extra.. but I didn't think it would be anything like this:

TWO Nails Inc polishes?! Not only that, but I've been waiting to buy a coral polish for aaaages and she has made that one less thing for me to do. This will be a definite for my next NOTD :)

She also sent me a Body Shop Body Butter and mmmmmm this is gorgeous! Anything that allows me to pamper myself is always going to put a smile on my face and that is exactly what Gabriela has done. I have never been shown such generosity from someone I've never met before. It makes me feel lucky that these people are real!

So back onto what I actually bought:

This is Henna eyeshadow from the BBR collection. It looks like an olive green in the pan, but once on the skin it is more of an antique gold (hence the name of my FOTD name!) - which I think is beautiful. It is useable during the day, as well as at night - I don't think the shimmers are overbearing at all. So glad I got my mits on this one, mwaha

I finally have Vanilla pigment! Hooraaaahhh. I know I'll be able to put this to good use and has been my highlighter since I got it.. LOVE! The picture really doesn't do it justice, but I understand now why most people have this in their collection

FOTD; Antique Gold

So yesterday I received some things in the post that I bought from the lovely Gabriela.

I'll post pictures of the items I got tomorrow (along with my other blog purchases) but just wanted to show you the look I came up with using the Henna eyeshadow (from the BBR collection) and vanilla pigment:

I used UDPP as my base and put the lighter shade of Family Silver all over my lid. I then used Henna as my crease colour and blended upwards towards the brow bone - it's concentrated more in the outer V to give my eye depth. I used vanilla pigment as my highlight and blended that downwards to the crease; this gave it a nice transition between the two colours.

I brought Henna slightly underneath my lash line - giving it a good smoky effect! I used Lash Blast mascara and Loreal Hip liner. This is the first time i've EVER used a cream liner.. I know now I will not be looking back! So easy to use and in my opinion gives such a better look. So a thumbs up from me :)

To brighten up my eyes i used a white pencil liner on the waterline and starred it out near my tear duct

So this is the final look! (As you can see, I'm embracing my freckles for summer!)

CG Lash Blast Review

One of the things I specifically asked Minzi to get me as part of our swap, was Cover Girl's Lash Blast mascara - I'd heard so many people raving about it, I knew i had to have one to try!

Lately I've been working my way through mascara's I'd previously bought and never used and I was beginning to get quite downhearted really. They were okay, but nothing special. For me, I love my eyelashes to look false or over done. This is just what I like, it's not everyone's cuppa tea! Usually if the mascara's just not up to par i'll put my false eyelashes on (I have 2346720 pairs of them!) and even though you can re-use them, it's a bit of a faff really on a daily basis.

This is a picture of my eyelashes, with nothing on (I'm blessed to have dark eyelashes naturally):

And this is them with just ONE coat of Lash Blast:

I am SO pleased. It has managed to lengthen, thicken, seperate and curl. I know that using this I won't feel the need to layer my coats of mascara on, I would be quite happy to use just the one. Which also means I don't always have to apply falsies.

Score!

I just know that when this mascara run's out, I will be mortified. So I'm already looking where to get my next tube!

Anyone that hasn't tried this - needs to. Bloody ebay it if you have to! Haha.

They're inexpensive compared to the higher end brands that claim to do (but usually it's just hype) what this does (for me) so in my opinion, it's worth the hunt!

Today I was feeling a little brave, so I opted for Barry M's 134 Yellow.. This is actually the first time I've ever worn this colour - I'd originally bought it for a neon themed party, however in the end I couldn't go and alas it has never seen the light of day since!

I am usually a french manicure girl. But these last few weeks I have been embracing all the summer brights and so this seemed like a good choice.

In the end I needed 3 coats for it to be streak free and completely opaque. Which looked like this:

I then wanted to be a little more adventurous so I pulled out my Konad plate M57 and used the leopard print design. This is how it turned out:

I am actually really pleased with this! What do you think?

I applied Rimmel's Lycra 3 in 1 over the top - to help it last longer. Not so much smearing of my design this time - woohoo!

Obviously this isn't for your typical 9-5 job, but it is something I will definitely be wearing in the future for the days when I am feeling fiesty!

I am going to do this as a running post for my blog, every Monday I will post pictures of my nails that day! I have the Orly Tiki Time collection coming, so I will be using those when they arrive!

MAC haul

I have been snowed under with parcels arriving; trying things out and enjoying pampering myself with all these goodies. Hence the delay for this post!

Now is the time though and with many more posts to come :) As you can see below.. my poor postman struggled on this ONE day.. ahem. He officially hates me now, after a week of my parcel delivering!

Thought I'd start with the glorious mac first..

Surprisingly, I'd never tried Fix+ but seeing as I'd only heard good things about it, I decided I would try it for myself to see. It has various uses, which was a definite appeal but I didn't want to wait for the Rose Romance rose scented version! I have used it everyday after finishing my make up and I love the look it gives me - it ensures I don' look like a cakey mess and helps me to look more fresh faced. Amazing! Especially when summers right around the corner and looking too made up is a no-no!

I also treated myself (and my poor brushes) to the brush cleanser - I was using far too many baby wipes to spot clean in between washing them, so thought I might as well just suck it up and spend the £7 odd. So far, I am seeing a massive difference in my brushes - so I am pleased that I got this. They are a lot softer, smell better and they dry quicker! Woohoo

Another staple item I hadn't purchased before was the Prep and Prime Skin - I have used this everyday since i bought it and it is another amazing product! It helps smooth out the texture of my skin, calm any redness and generally helps the application and staying power of my foundation. A part of me is now thinking, I should have opted for the Primer with the SPF50.. lesson learned though. I will just have to apply sun cream as well, which isn't so much of a big deal.

I hadn't managed to get anything from the Hello Kitty collection when it came out and was really wanting to get the Pink Fish lip conditioner - alas, it was one of the big hits and it was sold out online. I ended up getting Popster instead, which isn't so much my colour but I have found a way to wear it!

I decided to try it with GOSH's darling underneath and this is the result!

I actually really liked the way this turned out, it is definitely more wearable for me than it is on it's own and it gives the Darling a more pop of pink - which is lovely! It is also buildable, for the days when i want to be more daring!

I also got two of the mineralize eye shadow duo's from the Antiquitease collection and am in the process of collecting more.. oh deaaaar. It is love i tell you!

So i got earthly riches:

This is SO gorgeous and a definite must have for any girl that loves purple.. oh my.

So far I've only managed to take a picture when using more of the dark grey side (I keep getting so excited by my purple eyeshadow when it's on that I forget to take a photo!) so when I manage to calm down I will take a photo to show you

It is a lovely wearable neutral and will be good for work :)

Surprise haul; woohoo

Okay, so the haul i spoke about previously has been totally eclipsed by something even grander - no complaints from me

I happened to fall into some money and just.. well.. thank the make up lord!

Today my letterbox and doorbell have been put to good use and various things have been arriving throughout the day. It's not even half of it.. ha!

So onto the goodies..

First and foremost I wanted to try out Konad. As soon as I heard about it, I wanted it. So I ordered iTuesday night. I got the Double Stamper and Scraper (£4):

This was obviously the one I had to try first! I decided to go with the zebra print design to begin with as I already had Barry M's 304 Mint Green applied and figured that it would be a good combination..

I should never have thought the konad was as easy as the woman in the advert shows.. pffffft

First hand i did...... what.. a.. disaster! I know the packaging said to be quick with the steps, but seriously, give a girl a chance!

Not only did i not get the timing right, I had failed to set up efficiently with cloths, wipes and nail polish remover. Lesson learned. Black polish is a sucker to get off!

So this is a picture of my other hand, sliiiightly better - but still lots of room to improve.

I bought all my konad items from their website - www.konad.co.uk. I ordered on Tuesday night and they arrived today - which wasn't bad going at all! They charge £3, regardless of the weight - so you may as well get everything you fancy! I will definitely be ordering more in the future (i have my eye on the casino plate and also the fruit one hehe) but for now I am happy with my 3 plates to practice with. I can see a new obsession forming in the style of nail art.. BUGGER

I also ordered some samples from Lily Lilo to try out, i got 2 of their cover up correctors:

I wanted to try the green concealer for the pure fact I always have rosey cheeks and it drives me mad! I hate it so bad. So I wanted to see how this would work out for me. I also got Peepo because I know that more yellow/orange colour concealers help for our under eye circles. I'll have to see how these fair though, i've never tried mineral concealers and I don't want to get my hopes up just yet!

I decided to try two of their blushes (i know i just said i hate the redness of my cheeks.. but a blush in a pot is different to the blush i produce myself haha) in their cool range

I definitely will be trying more, but from their warm range next - either cheeky cheeky or sweet cheeks - i need a good coral blush people!

To shake things up a bit I got two of their foundation shades. First one being candy cane - this is from the cool range they offer.

I also got porcelain and this is in the neutral category - i'm thinking this may be too light for me, but I figured I can always use it as a concealer. A definitely advantage of only buying a 99p sample!

Last but not least, i thought i'd see what their finishing powders were like - i got mine in normal - translucent silk

I bought all these from www.lilylilo.co.uk - the blushes and concealers come in the little bags and those cost 49p each. The foundations and set powder come in a little jar with 0.75g of product and those are 99p each.

This lovely snake bangle was £7 - i HAD to have it. I have another i bought from Evans that i pretty much wear everyday that I bought months ago - so i knew i'd love this one too!

I also got this eyelash (£20) vest and i was a little dubious to begin with, but now that i have it - it's amazing! I have about 13566119 pairs of fake eyelashes, so this is a very good top for me haha

I believe they're offering 20% off everything at the moment until Monday 27th - which will definitely help those purse strings!

Phew! I wish i could say I don't have anything else coming.. but oh boy. Yes i do, haha. Still to come is mac, twilightedness, eyeko, ASOS, paint cosmetics, glamourdolleyes, everyday minerals, benefit, stila, urban decay and hard candy. oops?

I've been reading blogs for so long now, that i thought i should give it a go myself really.

I'm an addict with the best of them and I thought another blogger out there couldn't hurt, so here we are! I thought blogging would be a great way to get to know other ladies out there who have the same passion as me and it looks like it's a lot of fun!

Seeing as this is my first blog post, i better introduce myself...

I'm Lauren and I've only recently turned 21 - I love anything purple and animal print. But who doesn't?! I always seem to get tattoo's done at milestone's in my life - I will one day be covered.. oh dear. (I'm surprised i don't have a lipstick tattooed on me or something... now THAT is an idea, hmmmmmm) I love all things to do with make up and beauty - I often get referred to as Becky Bloomwood? I take that as a compliment though; she's got a killer collection *swoons*

Most of my friends and family just don't get the whole make up and beauty thing. I'm sure there's plenty of you out there who will though! And thank god, i need to be around my sorta people ha

I'll be sharing the products in my collection, things that I buy and also giving my opinions on them. I love swapping tips and reviews with people and this is one of the best ways to do so!
